Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, 37.5-Acre Colorado Estate Lists for $20 Million – Mansion Global

A 37.5-acre equestrian estate in Carbondale, Colorado, is on the market for $20 million.

Surrounded by the Rocky Mountains, the property features a three-bedroom, three-and-a-half bathroom ranch house, a barn with 41 stalls for horses and three additional outbuildings. It was listed Sept. 25 by Aspen-based Heather Sinclair of the Agency and Melissa Temple of Engel & Volkers Aspen.

“It’s the ultimate Colorado getaway,” Ms. Sinclair said. “The big views of Mount Sopris don’t exist with a lot of properties here. [Many] of them are tucked away and you just don’t have the same vistas.”

The estate is also covered in aspen and fir trees, adding privacy to the gated property, Ms. Sinclair added.

“You have more than 37 acres of open space, privacy, security, water rights and it’s just 30 minutes to Aspen,” she said.

The property offers ample space for horses and related activities, including a heated indoor arena and another arena outside, Ms. Sinclair added. In addition to the 41 stalls, there are six tack rooms, four grooming stalls and a stall for visiting veterinarians.

“No expense was spared,” Ms. Sinclair said.

The 3,400-square-foot ranch home has floor-to-ceiling windows to frame mountain views, as well as exposed beams and a wood-burning fireplace to give it a “romantic” feel, Ms. Sinclair explained. There’s also a chef’s kitchen with custom wood cabinetry and built-ins throughout the home.

The current owners purchased the property in 2009 for just under $2.9 million, according to property records.

Ms. Sinclair said she’s seen a shift toward properties with more acres since the beginning of the Covid-19 pandemic, and families are looking for homes with space for outdoor activities.

“People from various parts of the country are finding that the serenity of open space and the outdoor way of life is what’s best for them considering the circumstances—and long term, for their families,” Ms. Sinclair said. “This lifestyle gives them the outdoors, skiing, horses and everything, and then the cosmopolitan town of Aspen.”
